DeFusco’s Zeppoles Salmonella Lawsuits

On April 4, 2011 the Salmonella lawyers at Marler Clark filed a Salmonella lawsuit on behalf of a Massachusetts boy who was made ill after consuming DeFusco’s zeppoles on March 18 and March 19.

The Rhode Island Department of Health investigated the outbreak and ultimately found numerous health code violations at DeFusco’s main bakery in Johnston, RI. The contaminated zeppoles were distributed at all DeFusco’s locations as well as many other bakeries and storefronts across Rhode Island. The outbreak ultimately sickened at least 79 people.  Thirty people were hospitalized, and 2 died as a result of the outbreak.

Marler Clark Salmonella attorneys represented over a dozen victims of this outbreak, but during litigation, it was discovered that DeFusco’s bakery was not only unlicensed, but also totally uninsured.
